Abuse of Women During the Holocaust
During the time of the Holocaust, women were just coming out in Europe as a needed part of society. Although women were obtaining a higher role in society in Europe, women in concentration camps were treated unequally. The German officials, who were men, believed that the women were theirs to "own". In many cases, women were taken advantage of sexually in the camps. They were forced to submit to the man's actions, or there was a harsh price to pay, such as a beating. Some Germans, however, routinely abused the women by hitting or kicking them. Such forms of abuse, were extremely common in the concentration camps.
